Merrily we roll along...

Kill Bill Vol. 2.
What can I say? An amazingly good movie, especially when viewed in light of the first volume. Volume 2, however, is that rarest of things: a sequel that stands on its own merits. You don't need to see Volume 1 to follow what's happening, but if you have seen Volume 1, then all of the violence, revenge, brutality, etc is so much better. Which is an odd thing to say about violence, revenge, and brutality. But Tarantino does an amazing job of combining B-movie plot values with deeply grounded and motivated characters. Woo!
If there is one thing I will miss about LA on the eventual day of my departure, it is the rowdy opening weekend movie crowds. This town lives for movies, and opening weekend of a blockbuster is literally the equivalent of going to see a boxing match. It's loud, raucous, people cheering, booing, shouting obscenities... and that's just the previews. When the movie pays off, as it did here, the experience is amazing. I can't wait for Spider-Man 2. It should be a riot.
Not much else new here... the WPW website is plugging along, and should be up soon.
Keep your eyes open. I'm hoping to get a couple more short pieces up in the writing section, maybe put a new chapter of the books out there, although they are a pain to upload...
Looking forward to a good weekend by the beach where I can relax...
Or something...

PS:
There is interesting research to be done on Mel Gibson and the Catholic church. Not to sound obsessed, and it's certainly nothing I want to dedicate my blog to...
But, great movie that it is, Mel's got issues. He's forming his own schismatic Catholic Church. Latin masses! Small congregations! Ultra-conservatism (says the media)! Right here in Malibu! I should go investigate...
Fun things to do searches on:
Mel Gibson and Catholic Church
Fortean phenomena
CANNETO DI CARONIA, Italy (is it real? Certain small media conglomerates ie-CNN and MSN - reported it as fact...)
bushisms.com (I don't know whether to laugh or cry... But perhaps in a free-election society, the people get the leader they deserve...)
engrish.com (it's only slightly less PC than the previous site, and that's only because they have slightly less knowledge of the English language than Georgey. They get more points for trying. And they like monkeys.)

Quote of the day:
KARL ROVE, Bush's long-time political guru and White House advisor: "As people do better, they start voting like Republicans... ...unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing."

I always wonder how someone becomes a "blog of note" on Blogger.com. I can't even make the list of ten most recently published blogs. I always try, just to see myself on the list... but no. Tragedy, I tell you. I'm finishing up a play that I should have finished a long time ago, and getting ready to assault agents etc. with my monkey goodness. They will eat of it and be pleased.
If you read that in a Chuck Heston-y voice, it's a lot funnier. Well, marginally funnier.
Ahem.
Anyway,
Things are looking up around here. The weather's getting warmer, my friends are moving nearer, and my fiancee gets to visit me soon! I'm expanding my horizons, renewing my faith, buying new pants, and generally enjoying life (in the three spare minutes a week I get).
God willing, this summer will kick off some huge changes around here... I won't say too much, but I'll publish later depending on my success or failure. Or should I say lack of success? I'll save "Failure" for when I'm bitter, 80 years old, walking around and telling the kids how good they've got it and they just don't realize... wait. I do that now. Except I'm not 80.
You kids have no idea how good you've got it...
That's right, I'm talking to you.
